What a complete DIY job should include
Follow the instructions for your exact model, including its shutdown and startup sequence. Allow hot equipment to cool if directed. Keep moisture away from electrical connections, and handle the replacement lamp as instructed so residue is not left on its surface.
Inspect seals rather than automatically reusing them. Make sure the sleeve is clean, fully seated and undamaged. Repressurize the chamber slowly, then check every disturbed connection for moisture. Restore power only in the sequence required by the manufacturer.
Finally, confirm more than the absence of an alarm. Check that the display or status lights indicate normal operation and that no leaks appear after water has been flowing. Record the lamp model and completed service in a place the next homeowner or technician can find.
Know what the lamp replacement cannot prove
